Two more halibut from Hog Island for Mr. Brodsky today. No salmon that I'm aware of, aside from a few on the radio. There were some lingcod in the catch today and I saw some really nice Dungeness landed on the pier. Some offshore wind forecast for the week but it might leave us alone near the beach. Maybe.

Good job on the halibut. I'm a novice at this, but I've puttered around hog island for crabs. Lots of weeds in the shallows. How deep is good for halibut, and how do you avoid getting tons of weeds on the hook?
Stay out of the eelgrass beds (which is sometimes easier said than done). Generally the eelgrass is pretty shallow and you can avoid it by staying in 10 feet of water or more (there are some exceptions where the grass goes deeper and you'll find them like the rest of us have- the hard way). Halibut can be at any depth in the bay but 15 to 25 feet is most commonly fished. Free drifting weeds are a pain but one that can be minimized by checking your gear regularly and clearing off the salad. If it's too much trouble you can move to a different area but you should still work your gear regularly.
