While most of the salmon fishermen didn't do all that well today, all these fellows had to do was wait for Gerard Fitzgerald to call them in on the fish. Two limits, no problem. Gerard is planning on installing a second radio so that he can call himself in on the fish....

These folks stopped in to show off their halibut catch for today. The fish ate a live jacksmelt. The halibut bite has slowed but not stopped by Hog Island. There's a rumor of a few halibut from Ten Mile today but I haven't seen one of these fish. This is the time of year when there should be both halibut and salmon showing on the beach, so it may be true.
So, since it looks like there's a few salmon around, who's up for a salmon derby? The Fifth Merle Lawson Memorial Salmon Derby will be held here at Lawson's Landing on September 10, 2016. Gage is planning on winning again, but it could still be anyone's game.

Yea, where was that bite? - out deeper off the head? We heard that radio chatter and almost went looking but radio fish can be deceptive. As we came in we saw a group of boats in the bay (Bodega) so we weren't sure where the bite was.

Fish can be had closer to home but the bite is not a wide open bite, and we found them anywhere from 60 to 130 feet otw near the bottom so we could not concentrate at a certain depth.

We ended up with 1 16 lbr Thursday, a 10, 16, and 23 lbrs Saturday, and 1 small salmon Sunday mostly between the trees and elephant rock.

I am counting the 10 lbr Saturday just to make me feel better - I actually knocked him off with the net and am still hurting over that move - urgghhhh!

They were off of Tomales Point/Bird Rock in 200 feet in just the right place at just the right time. Another boat limited in 20 minutes by going over the same spot. Next guys got there, no fish.

Well we were all set to head out Wednesday but now the swell is way up and I'm not fishing in that slop again. Maybe later this month.

Has anyone been getting any stripers off the beach

My two top fishermen haven't been fishing, so I haven't heard of any. This time last year, though, there was a school working the beach in the evening. I saw a picture of the fish boiling. I missed it last year, but my intent is to not miss it this year.
