Early report from the second opener: They're still biting. Lost one, shook a silver, missed a bite and landed one 12# keeper in outer bay in a half hour in the dirtiest water I could find. Bird was clear and empty of bait. Water bumpy but no gale yet.
Later report: Four boats from here besides me went for salmon. One had six, one had 4 (limits), one had one, and one caught a couple shakers. Not red hot, but not bad. The weather was non-awesome but fishable in the morning. The guy that limited stuck it out until the late bite started at 3 for his last fish but returned kinda wet. All in outer bay fighting the weeds. I heard a rumor of a bite by the Russian River as well.

Go get’m!! Going to get busy this coming week as conditions improve!
Great job Willy thanks for the first report of the second season.
Sometimes you need to make your own news. Best if true
I love your blog. It has helped me decide what to do and where to fish for many good results. I'm puzzled. On Thursday this week there is minimal wind and swell, AND it's a .5 tide change in six hours for the morning. Is this even fishy in your seasoned opinion besides "well, if you don't go, you'll never know"...thanks, Eddie da Kayakah'
Sorta, yeah. Moderate tides make for moderate currents and a longer time to fish productively. Sometimes a more extreme tide flow can bring warm water from inside the bay to the mouth where the fish will bite more at the bottom of an extreme low as the warm water is there, longer. The ocean water is currently cold ish but should warm rapidly when the wind pauses this week.
