So I was reminded that this was, sometimes, a fishing report. Richard James asked, "Hi Willy,

I’m happy to hear you were able to help that one boat out recently.
The kayaker situation is a sad one, thanks for you and your boys for trying.

Was that container in the boat in the green bottle auto-pilot grease? Maybe it had been over-applied.

Any word on where to find Dungeness around here?

How about some sand sole or starry flounders?

I have a friend who has a real fishing problem and wants to catch something.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

Any herring still around?" I heard that the crab are still thick up around Salmon Creek.I also heard that there aren't any crab there. I'm going to assume that they're both correct and the crab are patchy. Scatter rings and find the the right patch. Inside the bay is slow. Snarers are getting a few and trappers a few more, but generally it is slow. Outside in the outer bay it is better but not good. In the outer bay I would probably avoid the area in front of the esteroes as only God knows what just spilled out of them.  Sand sole are probably on the bar or at Ten Mile/ McClure's, but fishing in any of those places can be sketchy this time of year, sketchy meaning where the fish are is a place that you might die if the weather is wrong. Make sure the swell is less than 6 foot before fishing in less than 30 feet of water and even then, head on a swivel and motor running, ready to full throttle out. So, like, probably don't do it. Herring? Probably further in the bay. As the bay has shed its fresh water, post-storms, the happy place for herring to make whoopie has moved farther into the bay. There's probably herring spawning near Marshall but minimal after work daylight has kept me away from looking.

On 1/27 Crabbing was still good up north by salmon creek like willy said. Didnt matter 75-150ft. Lots of smalls. Overall quality since the start is down but thats expected. so a couple over 6.5". Expect lots in the 5.75-6.25" range and under.

I been looking for those dabs with very success!! The crab around salmon creek are a hit or miss. Tons of commercial pots everywhere. Got a limit last week but had to pull the hoops twice. A few pirates out there so don't leave your gear. Chased a guy or guys in a burgundy and cream colored boat. Second time I caught these guys pulling pots that didn't belong to them.
