There was a 23 pound halibut caught just down the channel from the pier yesterday by Geoff Reed of San Francisco. He and his buddies arrived with live anchovies and rented a boat. It sounded to me like it was their only bite but they weren't (well, Geoff wasn't) complaining. For those of you that like to catch your own bait, the anchovies are coming into the bay and there's been a few large schools spotted back by Marshall Beach/Laird's Landing. The surf bite slowed as the wind sped up. There were still some perch and a couple of stripers caught at the end of the weekend but today a lure cast into the wind will be more likely to catch you than a fish.

I wish someone could have let us know there was an urchin eradication dive over memorial day weekend at ocean cove. That was more important than our annual trip to eagle lake. Fishing wasn't great 7 fish for 4 anglers but better than last year.
watermans alliance is working with Nor Cal underwater Hunters and doing a urchin dive on the Mendo. coast in july so mark your calendars and watch NCUH web page or facebook for details
Looks like July 21 and 22 at Albion
Ab, any size to those fish? Eagle Lake is not what it was in days past....
biggest went 21" just over 3 pounds. Rest were 16" to 18". Nothing like the days of when we got lots of 4 and 5 pounders. It's gonna take a few more years to get better they just stocked 75,000 fish but they were 4 to 6 per pound dinks not the 2 to 3 per pound they used to stock

Good article on our efforts.
Next event will be July 21-22nd out of Albion Cove.
There will be another fundraiser raffle and plenty of people to buddy dive with if coming alone...
