Eddie Kim caught this personal best 21 pound lingcod today. It bit a P-Line Ling Cod Rig squid in glow green. Eddie's not saying where.

Well, if you're only going to get one bite all day, this seems like a pretty good one. Tom Carter caught this halibut on a live jacksmelt. Apparently the fish was dieting, as this 42 inch long fish only weighed in at 26 pounds. Tom's not complaining, though. He was fishing near Hog Island and the water was only 50 degrees.

There's been a rumor that the stripers may be following those schools of anchovies into the bay, and that there may be a few to catch on the bar or in the channels leading toward Hog Island. I don't know if it's true, but a good rumor should always be passed along. You never know.

After years of trying and about to give up I scored my first good pot of coon shrimp over the weekend. They are out there.

I, too, suspected that coonstripe shrimp were closely related to snipe. There's definitely a trick to it that I don't know, other than lots of pots shotgunned over an area to find them. Catch any slime eels during your quest for shrimp?

Good catch I bet they tasted good. What depth and location did you find them in ?

I have caught a few coon stripes out in 280-300 ft of water and yes lots of hagfish/slime eels on the same trip

Never caught any eels only a few octopus, an assortment of other small critters and small shrimp. That all changed Sunday, Coonstripe up to five inches and quit a few. I had some pig fat that i threw in the pot maybe that was the trick. Or i'm thinking just plan luck, going to try again this weekend so time will tell. 180'

Quite a few being around 5 or 6 pounds for 2 pots. But after like you said Willy Snip hunting for years it was pretty awesome to finally get some.
