     "5/27
Chris Prentice with a 34” halibut caught on a live sardine by the buoy west of Hog Island." Chris also mentioned in his email that Jeff Prentice caught a 40" leopard shark South of Hog Island on a live perch (not an arrow...). I also heard a couple of surf striper stories over the weekend.

Im looking to get out and try for some Pacific Halibut this summer. Can anyone tell me if it is legal to fish for flaties around Cordel Bank?

It is my understanding that yes, you may. As I understand it, Cordell is closed to "federally managed groundfish", as defined by section 1.91 in the regulations. Pacific Halibut is not on the long list of fish in section 1.91. There is a somewhat confusing season and a good chance that the quota will be reached and the season closed before the ocean is flat enough here for a 30 mile run. If anyone has a different understanding, please share it.

Thank you willy! After many hours on the net i still wasn't quite sure.. Ill keep a eye on the quota. If I have any luck you'll be one of the first to know.
Thanks again and i'm looking forward to stopping in and picking up a couple new top water plugs for them elusive strippers.

Usually strippers prefer bills. You may catch a striper on a plug though.
