You know those days when the fishing is really slow, and you're thinking about those times that the fish were biting like mad, and it makes you feel even worse about how bad you're doing? My next slow day is going to suck even more after last night's wide open striper bite in the surf. At times they bit as fast as you could throw a lure in the water. Getting them to stick to the hooks was another matter, but the Vogler boys landed eight and kept two. Many other fish were caught, most released. The largest landed was about 8-10 pounds but larger ones were lost. The halibut also bit back by Hog Island last evening, so that could also be fun. And no more abs and Dungeness for a while, as they are closed.

Thanks for the report! How far out do you have to cast to reach the Stripers?
Not too far. Farther is better, but some of the fish are right behind the break.
