Just a quick post about the clams. We sent in a sample of four clams to the California Department of Public Health yesterday and got the results back today. The sample was seven times higher than the warning level for Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning toxin.  I think I'll pass on the clams for now.

  1. When it gets to 8X then you need to worry;)

Not a big shell fish guy myself so you all can have my ration of gooey gut stuff, although I had some clams in the Dominican Republic a couple weeks ago and survived. Ate a lot of their raw fish and beef - no problems.

It's a treat to be in the Sac Valley and have "Mikuni's" sushi to eat - world class sushi!!! Well worth any commute if your looking for the raw stuff - I'd eat their clams:)

  3. it is a warning, not a clamming ban. Licensed fishers still have a right to clam geoducks. The worker at Lawson landing said you could not clam, that is totally wrong, they can warn the people but can not stop them to clam. Just like McDonald warm cudtomer about their food may contain chemicals that causes cancer, but million customers still buy everyday.

  4. You do understand that in some cases death has occurred within 30 minutes. If someone consumes enough toxin they stop breathing. I personally appreciate the responsible warning and regulations provided by the folks at Lawson’s Landing. I have no problem with finding other activities at the beach. Best of luck with your McDonald’s and clams.

  5. i just want to make sure when we deal with the puplic and the people rights, it has to be in professional way and documentation, have to be signed with stamp from authorized gorvernment depaterment, not VERBAL , it s so unprofessinal and make people down about it by just saying "i am telling you clams are unsafe"

  6. Also 2 weeks from the first warning, there is no updated news, test results on clams? what s happening, no one follows up? That is so wrong when you deal with thousands of thousands people , or you wait untill i send group of lawyers to Lawson landing to see what happen???
