Eddie Kim took his new boat out for its maiden voyage and caught his limit of halibut before noon. He and Nick landed four more today. All of these fish were caught near Hog Island inside the bay. Other boats have been doing pretty good too, but catching live bait has been a bit difficult for many fishermen.

Here's a photo sent in yesterday from Sam Morita:"Caught one striped bass yesterday. 22 incher. At high tide. Eel grass is terrible. Daiwa sp minnow." There's four words that strike fear into the heart of the surf angler. But if you don't mind shucking a bunch of salad, there may be a striper waiting for you.

It's better to have weed in your pocket than grass on your line!

Any ideas where the school off Ft. Bragg is? I'm going north this weekend and don't want to run past them.

I heard Irish beach a couple of times, about 20 miles south of FB. That info is a few days old, so the fish should be closer, but still like albacore distance.

Yeah I'm gonna trailer north. Launchin from pt arena, anchor bay or Walsh cove are options. Saw a neat article on NCKA.com Killin the kings in kayaks off hmb.

Ab fish they were killing it in kayaks several weeks ago.

Have you launched at Pt. Arena before? How does the sling and crane thing work? By Walsh Cove are you referring to Ocean Cove? On Monday we launched at Albion and motored south to Point Arena, we landed three limits of big Salmon. The ride back was a little sloppy. Save your gas and let them come south to us.

Tail out was there a big fleet? I will just trailer up north till I find them. The O.C Yes but I was wrong it's Walsh landing. I think you have to provide your own slings on the crane but never done it I will go any were chasing tail except the rivers let those brown fish spawn. Every bite we have had lasted 2 days with all the googones pounding the spot does anyone work? I guess I will just trailer up north till I find them and find a launch for the klamath. Gotta a buddy scratching 10 mile tomorrow

Anyone hear any recent tuna reports out of fort Bragg? Are they still there? Looks like good water at 25/30mi out.

Ab I'm with ya on letting the river fish to spawn - I would be all for closing river fishing, the salmon need that time to do their thing - the returns would vastly improve.
Although you would have more of us googones in the ocean:(
