The past few days the catching has been slow but not completely shut off. At least, not for the skilled and lucky.
Jason Neff caught this 21 pound salmon on Friday.
Mike Morgan's 25 pound halibut was one of four flatfish brought in by him, Jigger John, and Frank Green. Live bait at McClure's Beach worked for them.
I didn't get the details but knowing these guys and seeing the fish they caught, they were trolling Ten Mile, probably with VK heads holding their bait. There were not a lot of fish brought in overall, but there's still quite a bit of bait out there and the water conditions don't completely suck, so there may be some more action before it's all over. Zach Liddle, one of our local fish counters, said he counted a 50+ pound white seabass caught in the outer bay on Friday, so that's interesting. Zach, you need to take a few pictures of these fish and send them over. We all want need to know.

Good Morning Willy, and all you fine Fishermen and women. I have been fishing out of Bodega Harbor for 46 years. I have had many boats in that time. Wood boats, fiberglass, and now aluminum. Small boats, and large boats. From only a hand held compass to now the latest and greatest marine electronics. In the old days most of us talked and shared fishing info on "CB" radios, of course now the radio of choice is the VHF radio. After many lack luster Salmon seasons this year is not that bad, I have plenty of Salmon steaks to last the winter in my freezer and I hope all of you do too! The main reason I am writing today is to comment on the "Radio Talk" that goes on while fishing. Why are most of the people that blab, blab, blab on channel 9 about everything but fishing so secretive about where there fishing and what there using? A lot of guys sound like FBI, or secret agents talking on the radio. In my view we all belong to a big fishing family, If I find a hot bite, you can bet I'll tell you where, when, and how.....See ya on the water.

I'm with ya 100% on that one. Seems like very few people want share info these days.

Yep, I agree! It's a big ocean, the more we work together the better. I love watching other fisherman pulling in fish. I was out a couple of weeks ago and the commercial guys were kind enough the share some information with me. I hear of other fisheries sharing information like Oregon and Washington but not so much here in California.
As we all know...dont chase radio fish. I always report the catch and hope some people are foolish enough to chase our bite. The radio chatter is silly and its too bad they ruin the experience for many. Im embarrassed when some of these people start chatting. The best ones are the racial slurs or when a young girl asks her dad what he wants for breakfast when he gets back to camp. I keep my radio off except after relaying a fish report! A-holes and you know who you are.
I guess when you say good night "ALL" you meant us Sac guys also.....

Knucklehead where you're from has nothing to do with the kind of fishermen you are I live in Sacramento I am 62 years old I have been fishing in Bodega Bay for 50 years I keep my boat year-round at Spud Point Marina l spend thousands and thousands of dollars in the bodega bay area and I guarantee I can out fish you six ways to Sunday Geographics have nothing to do with fishing and a true fisherman unlike yourself does not need to hear radio info to catch those same fish
my favorite radio chatter is when you're out albacore fishing and someone holds the mic to a fresh tuna beating it out on the deck.
Man I hope I don't turn into a grump when I'm 62. Be careful you've been lucky a long time! Lol never get to cocky as 10 % of fisherman catch 90 % of the fish. Glad some of the 1 % like bodega good for property values, but I can easily feed my family all the seafood they want with my 15 ft. Gregor no need to break the bank I catch fish to enjoy and save money

Eric you are right I have no idea what kind of fisherman you are but your post certainly tell what kind of man you are... but I would guess your ignorance outshines any qualities you have as a fisherman to arbitrarily group everyone from Sacramento in the same sentence that were the cause of the problem or your perceived problem on the radio is Ludacris I guess when I retire and move to Bodega Bay I'll be one of the good old boys just like you huh
