Here's a photo from yesterday that I forgot. Victor Shada caught this 26.5 pound salmon out in front of Bird in 80 feet of water. If it looks larger than that it's because you want me to take your fish pictures. Or, maybe our scale is wrong. Either way, it's a damn nice fish and yet another I'm jealous of.
Today was a great day for the kite surfers. They seemed real excited. The fishermen were very much less so. A couple of more days of upwelling and we can get back to some looking for fish again. In the meantime, sailing lessons, anyone? I hear the Shrimp Boat captain is available for some Intro to Laser 101 classes. The man bought a sailboat in the hopes that he could make the wind stop. A valiant but failed effort, sir.
The Coastodian, a local guy that spends his free time picking up the crap that blows out of your boat and advocates for a cleaner coast, sent over this report: "Willy
I recovered this boat today from walker creek delta along with a foldable kayak and some other garbage
All reasonable offers for 15 person clam boat accepted
Also saw the custom small boat syndrome guy pulled off shoreline south of nicks
15 person clam boat, needs motor or rowing crew" Sorry, maybe it's a Craiglist ad. Kidding. These cheap inflatable boats don't come with anchors. On a day that the wind comes up suddenly any number of these vessels will float or blow away from the clam island, leaving their previous owners stranded. These probably date back to June 23 when I had to run out and haul back three groups of two people each that were left on the island, boatless. The Coast Guard was out yesterday checking for life jackets and trying to reduce the general foolishness. Thanks, guys. Some of these folks need a little help. It's a great show on the webcam, though. Here's the Coastodian's pics of the Extend-A-Boat:
That extend a boat is a real piece of ....!

That boat would fit right in to a Mad Max movie.
ReplyDeleteSi with Pelosi madly at the helm
ReplyDeleteYou, me, and Harvest Time clearly watch the same crappy (but really awesome) movies.

ReplyDeleteWell shoot, that sailboat Willy mentioned drifted off the beach last night... It's a Laser sailboat, about 14 feet long, yellow bottom and white top. Here's a pic:

Just the hull, no mast or rudder or centerboard.
I'm hoping it's in the Walker Creek delta, I'll have a look tomorrow. Should be really fun in the 30 knot wind...
If anyone happens to see it, please call or text 415-305-2155.
Is that 50-80 feet OTW or the water depth is 50-80 feet?
ReplyDeleteWater depth. Fish were closer to the bottom for most.
