Not much new to report. Inside the bay has been slow for the Dungeness, although a very few guys are catching limits or close to limits. Wednesday a boat with three guys limited by noon and another boat had 16 Dungeness for a pair of fishermen over the course of the day. So, it's possible to do well in the bay, just really unlikely. Ten Mile has been consistently good and the outer bay has a lot of good ground still. These crabs in the photo are outer bay crab from an overnight soak. I haven't heard of any halibut since the opener. The water temperature has dropped to 51º which probably isn't going to kickstart a feeding frenzy. At least the rockfish don't mind the cold.
Thanks for the report.
ReplyDeleteI have found a dozen or so bouys on the day beach, all ropes have been cut...someone is going out and cutting lines not sure if their taking the pots or just leaving them on the bottom...we need to catch these assholes!....if you see any kind of activity like this call fish and game they are aware of this
ReplyDeleteFunny how my pots are always full on weekdays...
ReplyDeletePossibly they were none weighted/leaded lines, floating on the surface.
ReplyDeleteProp cut or intentionally...
To many Kooks still don’t understand the importance of weighted pot ropes.
I ran over ones guys line last year and his excuse was he couldn’t afford leaded lines.
My reply was well you shouldn’t be crabbing then.
He almost got a beat down for it as he was upset I cut his line, but lucky for him I had my kids onboard.
There is nothing in the DFG regs requiring leaded lines..maybe you are lucky you had your kids on board and you had time to look at your attitude.
DeletePoor commies!! Only sport crab north of the head. Just need more rough water to keep the googones out of our honey holes.
