You never know what you'll see while out on the bay. This is the first bobcat I've heard of in the bay, but that could be because nobody is looking for bobcats.
The crabbing is decent in the bay and on the pier. The outer bay seems pretty picked over. In three hours of crabbing the outer bay yesterday we caught 11 Dungeness, not even as good as some people did from the pier. Rockfish and lingcod are closed now, so ocean fishing is limited to crabs, sand sole and sanddab. In Tomales Bay leopard shark is open all year. Halibut is open all year too, but of course catching halibut is limited to the warmer water months. They're coming...just not soon.
As they say, the shortest distance between two places is a straight line. Apparently that holds true for bobcats as well, even if it does mean crossing a bay.
ReplyDeletethose dam "cat"amaran zodiacs probaly scared him out of the woods is it really necessary to have a 50 h.p. 2 stroke on those things they are always an annoyance to most other boaters and wild life. It is not smart to use my buoys as a slalom course some people don't use leaded rope. I always say Bought a nice boat to bad you can't buy a brain. sorry if this is a little agressive but its true.
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing photo! Well done.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Is the pier that you are referring to in your posts the public pier at Nick's cove in Miller Park?
The pier I'm referring to is the one at Lawson's Landing. It is a private pier, so a fishing license is required.
