The pier is still kicking out a few Dungeness, especially around the turn of the tide. Snares and traps are both working about as well there. The bay crab action has been on the slow side for most boaters. About 4 to 6 Dungeness has been the average with quite a few zeros and one boat landing 17 over the weekend. Outside the crabbing is better but not great. Guys are getting them with a bit of work. The rockfishing has been good in the ocean and there's some nice redtail perch in the surf if you and the school of perch are lucky enough to meet. Twilight seems to be the more important than the tide for the perch.

We need to get some of the dive companies to sponsor an urchin derby. Just like they used to have when they did the chocolate abalone dive in Monterey until some enviro nazi complained cause 2 chocolate abalone weren't recovered and thus plastic was left in the water. That used to be so much fun. Diving the same beach as 500 other divers was pretty crazy!

Unfortunately, the urchins that are doing the vast majority of the damage to the kelp forests are the small purple urchins, not much bigger than a golf ball and zero commercial/food value.

Abalone conditions have always been cyclical fish and game or Wildlife whatever you prefer needs to stop focusing on writing tickets to law abiding citizens that make a mistake and go after the true poaching rings that are supplying the San Francisco underbelly with all the fresh Abalone that they want and closing the season to law abiding citizens is not going to change that

Outlaw none of us care about commercial value. We fish and hunt cause we like to. It's just like shooting coyotes or dragging sharks behind your boat in florida. Bull sharks are bad for tarpon! Urchins are bad for abalone let's make fertilizer out them.

I don't know ab fish sharks are pretty cool but I don't give a shit about a Urchin. Kill the Urchins.

We hunt and fish because we like to, sure, but also because we're the stewards of the animals we pursue. If it's just about fun and good eats, that's child's play. The adults in the room understand our responsibilities as conservationists.

And as for dragging a shark, well, that's among the most ignorant, obscene things an "angler"
could do.
