Today there is a large, fatality-inducing swell making a lot of surf and noise. Two Coast Guard 47 footers are out practicing in the surf and they look small on the faces of the waves. There's some Dungeness in the outer bay but you can't get there from here, today. Inside the bay the crabbing is fine if you want reds but painfully slow for Dungeness. The pier has had some reds but keeper Dungeness just haven't been showing.

Good day to work on the boat

There is cool video on Youtube from past training jaunts shot from onboard-you can hear people yelling and laughing, but not for those prone to seasickness. Enter Bodega Bay Coast Guard in the search box; there are several to choose from if you feel like killing time.

Snared a few sizeable dungees out near the golden gate at baker beach and out on the persidio pier on the SF side yesterday. Going again today out on the marin side to try my luck.

Dungeness crab is not open inside San Francisco bay, which I believe starts at a line drawn between the Point Bonita Lighthouse and Mile Rocks, well West of the GG bridge. Reds are OK but Dungeness are closed year-round in SF bay.
